Computers, printers, peripherals, TV’s, VCR’s, etc, etc, etc. Consume power and the power consumed turns to heat that must be removed by the air conditioner. Put multiple components on a power strip so they can all be easily turned off.
A gadget called a “Mini Power Minder” can be purchased for under $20. It powers down all Peripherals when a computer goes into hibernate.
Of course you have your computer set to automatically hibernate after 15 minutes of inactivity?
